ART WORK OF THE WEEK

It's been a while since I last drawn something.  Just read from a book that inspired me to start drawing again. The book says - find what you are good at, learn and keep on growing... that is the only way you will be GREAT!  I will try to finish a piece every week... that is the only way I can improve my work... keep growing by practice.

Sharing the last work I made...

CRAB ART

During our visit to Paracale (Camarines Norte, Philippines), Tutel and I decided to walk along the beach [after Typhoon Santi, intenational name - Mirinae brushed through the north Philippines, hitting most of the Bicol areas, leaving towns without electricity for days now]. While we were walking through, interesting "arts" on the sand caught our eye... then we noticed that these were created by.... crabs! yeah, you heard me right, they were created by crabs who are continuously going in and out of their tiny holes in the sand.... see the beauty that these crabs can do. This is CRAB ART.

OurFunART: Painting

We were at National Bookstore browsing through books when we walked past the supplies section. There were paint brushes, a collection of paints from watercolor, acrylic to oil paints. Then a small piece of canvas caught our eye. In the "package" were two brushes and small canisters of paint". I got hold of it and headed for the cashier. Roussel was with all smiles saying that I would be painting. I was smiling to my ears and said - "Oh no, YOU are painting!" She did not argue but went back to the supplies corner and got another canvass "package". She looked at me and said, now you're painting (too) :)

When we got back home, after dinner, we started to imagine and realize our masterpieces. I brought out my old brushes, paints, paint palette, mixer.... I told her, when I paint, I usually think of something that inspires me to see. It may be a small item to a landscape somewhere. Think of something you like.... then we started our own pieces.

ART: PHOTOGRAPHY

We love taking pictures whenever we travel, attend parties, weddings, and other times when we just feel that a 2GB of memory is not enough to have yourself photograph in so many angles you cannot decide which one to post in your friendster or facebook account (hehe!).

Recently, I was browsing through the internet and read about digital photography. It was then that we started capturing images in a different way, something we didn't imagine we can actually do with our digital camera even if we are non-professional photographers.

We would like to share some tips that you can try for yourselves as it has worked "miracles" for us.

The following pictures are original shots, unedited.

Shot Angle is important. This is an Acer 4100 Travelmate Laptop, captured in a
"good angle" ... it creates a different "view" of an ordinary laptop.

ART: A REVELATION

ART. I have been painting and drawing before I even knew how to write. I have joined drawing classes when I was about 8 yrs old. The most memorable could have been my classes with a renowed Filipino artist - Ben Cabrera, more commonly known as BENCAB.

In high school, I was the Batch Artist. I used to draw and paint for my classmates projects. Joined poster making contests which I won in about 8 contests.

When I was still in Baguio, most of my drawings and paintings are of nature and pine trees.
Then that developed into portraits and children. Most of my work were given out and I have not kept one for myself. It was only in college that I started to compile some of my work. When I was employed in Manila, the sketching and drawing didn't stop. I had my sketch pad with me and I made the BEST works that I ever dreamed of.
