Visiting the National Museum of Fine Arts

23AUG was declared a holiday and what to do with the kids on a long weekend?  We decided to take a tour to the National Museum and see what it has to offer.  We have been passing this grand building for years,  but I haven't really seen it from the inside... so we decided to take the kids to see the Museum.

After the long queue - we were finally inside and this painting greeted us and I was in awe.

Spoliarium by Juan Luna.   I have read about this in history books, but all the while I have a picture that it was a big painting that can cover our wall... but this was about 2 floors high and maybe 25ft across!  It was beautifully amazing!  And this was just the start?  Wow, can't wait to see the rest!

So we walked through hundreds of paintings and sculptures and took us about more than 2 hours until we were so tired of walking... until we finally finished all exhibits from the 3 floors!

It was a different experience and it was nice introducing the kids to the artworks done by some famous Filipino artists in history... but I guess I was happier, having been inspired again to continue my passion for drawing and painting after this Museum visit :)  It was memorable visit and it was a first for all of us!  Looking forward to visiting other Museums in the future.

Until our next adventure!
